Beginning with the 2009-2010 application, students in the College of Communication can apply for all Communication scholarships through one application. By completing this single application, students will be considered for scholarships from both the Office of Student Affairs and their department. As we get closer to the application period we will post specific application information, so check back here for more details.

ANA Multiculatual Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility: College junior who is a qualified American citizen with proven Latino heritage and at least one grandparents of Latino heritage. Student must be a AAAA MAIP (Multicultural Advertising Intern Program) Hispanic Intern in good standing and have a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). An essay of 250-500 words on the following topic “What prompted you to pursue a career in advertising or marketing? What will you draw upon from your education, internship or life lessons that will enable you make a difference in advertising or marketing communications?” must be submitted.

Eligibility: Junior in the Fall preceding the application date with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program
NASA is seeking undergraduate students from diverse communities who are interested in a challenging research experience at a NASA center. 10 week summer sessions and 15 week fall session will be available. Aligned with NASA's research and development mission, the USRP program provides students with a technical mentor and excellent hands on experience. Classified as a rising junior or senior after spring 2003 semester; eligible fields of study are academic majors or demonstrated coursework or concentration in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or physical/ life science; demonstrated strong interest/ commitment to one of the above career fields or disciplines (e.g. science/ math/ engineering fairs, clubs or awards; tutoring/ mentoring; internships or other related experience).

Ornelas Associates Minority Scholarship
Eligibility: Student must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and be a qualified American citizen who has proven Latino heritage with at least one grandparent of Latino heritage. Eligibility: African American (Black, non-Hispanic) Junior who will be a degree candidate in the 2003-2004acadeic year; life or physical science major interested in biomedical research (first professional and engineering majors are not eligible); minimum GPA 3.3; committed to two 1-12 week summer internships at a Merck research facility; US citizen or permanent resident

Young Women’s Alliance Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility: Young Women who are U.S. citizens under the age of 40. Applicants should be juniors, seniors, or graduate students attending a college in a Central Texas. Recipients are chosen based on financial need, commitment to community service, and academic achievement.

Nationally Competitive
Students do not apply directly for the scholarships listed below. Instead, they must be nominated by U.T. Preliminary applications must be submitted to Professor Larry Carver, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, early in the Fall semester. In addition to completing the scholarship application, students are interviewed by a faculty panel prior to nomination. Gate/Cambridge Scholarship
Eligibility: Student who has been admitted to Cambridge through the University’s normal academic procedures.

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship
Eligibility: Undergraduate students about to enter graduate school and graduate students who have not yet completed their first year of graduate study and who intend to pursue a doctoral or master's degree, if the master's degree is the terminal or highest degree awarded in an approved field. Student must be plan to enroll in graduate school in the fall of year received and must be U.S. citizen.

Marshall Scholarship
Eligibility: Open only to United States citizens who (by the time they take up their Scholarship) hold a first degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7. To qualify for awards tenable from October 2004, candidates must have graduated from their undergraduate college or university after April 2001.

Eligibility: Undergraduate students who wish financial support to attend graduate or professional school in preparation for careers in government, the non-profit sector or elsewhere in public service
