Tamara Bell is a public relations practitioner and online columnist with 20 years experience in government, education, and journalism.

Not a digital native by birth, Tamara discovered a few years ago the power of technology to help tell engaging and entertaining stories about her clients. Today, she combines digital media, including Web sites, blogs and podcasting, with traditional public relations strategies to promote her clients' messages to specific audiences. She also produces a column for an online political publication.

When not working on writing or public relations projects, Tamara is a lecturer in the Advertising Department at the University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches a PR in Entertainment course. She previously taught an Integrated Communications Campaigns class, the department's capstone course.

Tamara began her career as a newspaper reporter for the Dallas Times Herald. A few years later, she moved into politics and government, working for several members of the Texas Legislature as chief-of-staff and press secretary. She also worked for the Texas Education Agency and the Public Utility Commission as a communications specialist. She lives in Austin with her son.
