Marie's primary research focuses on health and nonprofit communication, and the branding of social causes. She is interested in how to effectively communicate health initiatives to low health literate audiences, and the audience's receptivity to such messaging. In conjunction, she is also interested in health nonprofits, source credibility and donor relationships. Prior to the University of Texas at Austin, Marie worked for an agency that specialized in fundraising for large, international nonprofit organizations. Her clients spanned across healthcare (American Diabetes Association, Smile Train, National Parkinson Foundation, The ALS Association), disaster relief (AmeriCares, Operation Blessing International) and higher education alumni development (The University of Chicago).
