JOB TITLE: Part-time Graphic Design Intern
DEPARTMENT: Marketing Communications
REPORTS TO: AVP, Marketing Communications
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, 15 hours per week
NFP is searching for a creative and motivated intern to assist the design team in the creation NFP and Member Firms marketing materials including, but not limited to, brochures, sales collateral, conference materials, logo designs, web sites, html emails and to help with other day to day operations. Projects will range from modifying existing artwork to conceptualizing and designing from concept to completion. This is an unpaid internship, however, this valuable experience will earn you college credit and look exceptional on your resume. Who knows, you might design the greatest piece yet in your portfolio!
The ideal candidate takes instruction well, follows through on execution of an assignment and is capable of working independently. Excellent communication skills are a must. Candidate must be actively enrolled in a graphic design degree program or equivalent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist designers in day to day responsibilities as needed
- Contribute to presentation development, whether it be researching, writing, image search or creation of graphics elements
- Communicate with vendors for quotes and learn press jargon as well as how to spec a job
- Manage projects on your own
- Maintain and update materials available through our online printing services and archival system
- Create graphs and charts for PowerPoint presentations upon request
- Ensure compliance with corporate & channel branding and style guidelines
- Assist in photo shoots
- Prepare files for printing
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma
- Must be creative and exhibit strong concept skills in design, layout, color theory, typography, photography usage and print production
- Intermediate software skills including proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dream Weaver, Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); with the aptitude to quickly learn new tools
- Knowledge of HTML (and cascading style sheets) and Flash a plus
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong follow through and attention to detail
- Ability to work under time constraints and with changing priorities
- Paste up, cutting and assembly of comps
- Be courteous, tactful, articulate and maintain a neat appearance
