Entertainment Specialist

I am a UT Communications Alum who has a start-up entertainment business. I’ve been playing in and booking cover bands for 10 years. We provide high quality live music for private functions (weddings, frat parties, corporate events…) in and around Austin. I need one highly motivated student intern. You will get real world experience. No low-level data entry type work. I am an entrepreneur so you will learn what it’s like to start-up, run and expand a business in the entertainment industry. You will be given important responsibilities and a large amount of creative freedom. This is a fun business. Austin’s economy is dependent upon tourism and entertainment. We are “The Live Music Capital of the World.” Come learn the business with us.

Pay:

This position starts as unpaid. If your work leads to an increase in business, which is the idea, we will work out a percentage pay scale. The sky is the limit for a motivated person. More information on pay provided in the interviewing process.

Qualifications Sought:

One highly motivated, organized student who either has experience in or has interest in the music and entertainment industry. I want a trustworthy, hard working self-starter who is teachable and able to perform the duties listed below.

Schedule:

10-15 hours a week. Hours are very flexible. Occasional nights and weekends. The internship will start in April and go through the summer. Flexible on start and end dates. If done well this could turn into a long term endeavor.

Description of duties:

  • Web design
  • Design and create flyers, brochures, marketing materials,
  • Create new business: branding, press kits, calling venues,…
  • Dealing with costumers.
  • Creating and managing formal contracts and dealing with payments.
  • Social networking for band(s). i.e. MySpace, Facebook…
  • Work with musicians, management and customers on scheduling.
