Clear Channel Radio - Special Events/Marketing Internship

Clear Channel Radio Austin is looking for committed and reliable students to join the Clear Channel Intern Events Team for the Fall 2009.

Individuals will receive hands on experience with planning and executing special events. The internship will provide students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience within the workplace and at on site events, while gaining knowledge about special event planning, marketing and the radio industry.

The intern will work directly with the promotions/marketing department and will be supervised by a staff member on a day-to-day basis; gaining valuable experience in event management, fundraising for non-profits, sponsorship development, and community outreach. Under the supervision of the promotion director, the intern will gain experience implementing and being highly involved in all aspects of station special events.

Requirements:

    Student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must receive school credit for the internship, providing a letter of verification upon start date

    Act as a professional representative of the radio station

    Must be punctual and reliable

    Must be available to work special events after hours and on weekends, Saturday’s specifically

    Be enrolled in a related degreed program or college of study

    Commit to working 10-15 hours per week.

    Internship is unpaid, provides valuable hands on experience

    A study of related field: marketing, public relations, business or communications

Interns can expect to complete the following curriculum:

    Cold calling for event contributions to vendors

    Understand marketing tools available in promoting special events

    Work as part of an event team in set up, implementation of special event

    Represent stations at special events

    Write a factual press release

    Participate in special event on site activities

    Learn aspects of planning a major special event

    Write copy used to publicize special events

    Design and prepare event print materials

    Participate in status meetings

    Interact with industry representatives

    Organize promotional goods and merchandise

    Draft letters to potential VIP’s

    On line copy writing & updates

    Internet research

    Photograph station events for documenting

    Contribute creative ideas for external special event marketing

    Work in concert with promotion director on multi format station events

    Understand and contribute to the creation of a special events budget

    Interact with station personnel with the execution of special event
