DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY

Created and launched in 2001, The Advertising Show is a worldwide online weekly program sponsored by Advertising Age magazine. The program delivers content focused on trending topics within the marketing, advertising, public relations, branding, and media industries. The wide range of guests featured each week includes top executives from global and US based advertising agencies, journalists from the advertising and entertainment industries, and best- selling authors of the latest business, marketing, advertising, public relations, media and branding books. The program format includes the latest industry news, a guest interview feature, and two vignette features. One vignette highlights the latest public relations strategy and crisis management instruction, and another features advice on customer relations. Both vignettes are voiced by professionals who work in each of the industries being discussed. The Advertising Show is streamed online every Sunday at 5:00 PM Eastern Time and is listed on over 60 online radio directories and available for subscription through iTunes.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP DUTIES

This digital savvy intern will be working closely with the program’s Senior Producer throughout the spring semester to market and promote The Advertising Show’s online presence. Candidates will need to have a general background in advertising/ communications and be particularly familiar with a variety of social networking platforms. Specific weekly responsibilities include: posting tweets and engaging users via Twitter, developing and actively maintaining new social networking sites, researching and identifying new emerging media opportunities, and exploring ways in which we can grow our user community both organically and with new digital platforms.

NUMBER OF HOURS ESTIMATED PER WEEK

This position will require 10-12 hours a week. Hours will be very flexible to fit around candidate’s schedule.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Candidates applying for this position must be well organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work independently of an office environment. Additionally, candidates must be passionate about social media and have hands-on experience and practical knowledge of a variety of social media applications.

WHETHER PAID/UNPAID

This position is unpaid, however, The Advertising Show is willing to work with candidates regarding course credit where applicable.
