Empower Art is an emerging non-profit organization in Austin, TX dedicated to helping at-risk youth through the creative arts. The organization commits to facilitate healing and empowerment for adolescent survivors of family and sexual violence through various forms of creative expression. We seak to provide an environment in which young people can learn healthy coping skills, self-expression and social responsibility through the production and performance of art, music, theatre and dance.

Duties

Empower Art, an emerging non-profit based in Austin, is seeking a motivated self-starter who would work remotely 15 hrs per week, attend a bi-weekly 1 hour meeting with the organization's Marketing Director and be on a weekly 30 minute conference call to discuss/present their progress. This individual would be responsible for managing all aspects of the organization's media presence, writing press releases, drafting donor/fundraising communications, pitching media outlets, update media lists, and aspects of event planning and promotion as necessary.

Skills

•Junior/Senior undergrads
•Majors: Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations
•Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Blogging - experience in the capacity of a professional organization/business preferred
•Microsoft Excel
•A willingness to learn and an inclination to think outside the box.
•Experience with drafting press releases, articles, or pitching media outlets preferred
•Experience with email campaign/newsletter management a plus or an understanding of MailChimp software (not required)
•Knowledge of HTML, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop is a plus (not required)
•Must be a self-starter who is willing to work independently!
