The Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (VATAT) is a professional organization for agriculture science teachers and supporters of agriculture education. The VATAT is an organization dedicated to member services. The Association informs agriculture teachers about the latest agricultural education practices, encourages higher standards of teaching agriculture and provides agriculture education a unified voice in the state legislature.

Duties

This paid internship will focus on projects pertaining to the annual professional development conference for agricultural science teachers. Duties may include but are not limited to: exhibit show registration, workshop registration, newsletter development, website maintenance, graphic design, writing press releases, database management, membership registration and other duties as assigned. Students interested in communications and other relevant majors are encouraged to apply. This is a very hands-on, project-based internship that requires attention to detail, customer service skills and professionalism.

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as with office staff
• Computer skills required: Internet Research, Microsoft Office, Adobe Software a plus
• Press release writing skills
• Skills in newsletter development
