Cultural Leadership Project is a grassroots collective of artists and advocates for community and cultural revival. Our mission is to generate a demand for Cultural Leadership and produce inspiring role models among artists at the forefront of cultural change. Starting in Austin, we are asking emerging artists in music, film, art, dance and theater to publicly identify with the Cultural Leadership pledge:

Vocal Bohemian Saints is a flash mob vocal performance troupe. We teach the ordinary human voice to sing and create extraordinary moments. We teach the ordinary human being to collaborate and build extraordinary community.
Cultural Leadership Project is hiring two qualified candidates for the Fall 2010 Apprentice Program, offering hands-on experience on the ground floor of a new 501(c)3 arts service organization.
Pay: This is a 90-day unpaid position.
Time frame:
Begins (tentatively) Monday, September 6, 2010
We have two positions available:
- 1. Coordinator of Marketing & Development. Are you smart and friendly? (other post)
- 2. Coordinator of Communication & Events. Are you fun and well organized?
General Responsibilities:
- Positions are based in East Austin
- 12 to 15 hours a week, including weekly meetings and 24 hour email response
- You will be given the opportunity to shadow the executive director before a project is handed off to you
- You will be given the opportunity to be involved in two of our programs:
- 1. Vocal Bohemian Saints (VBS) weekly trainings, monthly events and seasonal show
- 2. CL Summit at Sundance Film Festival 2011
Individual Responsibilities:
- Develop and send news correspondence to members and perspective members
- Develop CLP website content
- Organize two VBS audition events
- Organize all VBS flashmob events
- Organize VBS December show
- Manage VBS contact list (members)
- Maintain a project calendar
Requirements:
- Enrolled in and/or recently graduated from an accredited higher education institute
- Good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.5 or above
- Have Internet access at your residence and a valid email address
- Have strong PR and organizational skills
- Be comfortable with email, phone and interpersonal communication
- Be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook and Twitter
- Show initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Can maintain efficient project timelines
- Must have reliable transportation (to office, meetings and events)
- Dress appropriately for each context
- Extra points for experience in creating graphic, social media and website design content
- Extra points if you've completed coursework or proven experience in grant writing or business management
