The Office of Sustainability at the City of Austin
Description
The Office of Sustainability at the City of Austin is engaged in all things "green" across the city organization and the community. In addition, we manage the Austin Climate Protection Program. We are a small, energetic start-up group in the City Manager's office at City Hall.
Internship Duties
The intern will have interesting and challenging assignments supporting the Strategic Communications effort within the office. This includes the full range of marketing, communications, PR and media and social media outreach functions. There will be opportunities to take charge of whole projects and deliver results that will be "resume worthy." A major program for the intern to conduct will focus on fostering sustainable behavior through public education campaigns.
Skills Required
Excellent writing and editing.
Ability to understand and communication relatively complex topics related to sustainability and climate change.
Experience and/or confidence conducting media outreach, as well as phone and personal interviews to gather information, and participate in team meetings.
Skill in performing online research, and using other technical tools.
