Description
PetersGroup Public Relations is a full service marketing and public relations firm with clients in the non-profit, technology, healthcare and financial services space. We are looking for an exceptional aspiring marketing/pr professional to join our team and assist account team members in the implementation and execution of client's marketing and public relations campaigns. This is not your typical "administrative" internship. While some clerical duties will be required as a necessary evil of any job, it is our intent to provide a highly interactive and engaging experience. Our firm operates at a very fast pace, so quick learners and sponges are highly encouraged to apply.
Internship Duties
1. Create and maintain media and analyst contact lists.
2. Create and maintain conference lists for speaker placements.
3. Gather editorial calendars and electronically create account editorial calendars.
4. Develop and write drafts of press releases and other written material.
5. Proof copy and collateral designs.
6. Research client competitors, conduct competitive analysis.
7. Contribute to brainstorming sessions.
8. Create and deliver powerpoint presentations as required.
9. Participate in client meetings as required.
10. Keep account leads aware of all account-related activities and issues.
Responsibilities: Heavy project and marketing campaign coordination, some office administration and various communications support tasks. Intern will assist in media outreach, coordinating events and researching client competitors. Other communications responsibilities to be added based on the intern's knowledge and desire to learn.
Skills Required
Requirements: Highly self-motivated, mature, organized, detail-oriented Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Business or Communications. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Desire to learn. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Technology and business savvy. High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Previous internship and/or office experience required.
Technology/Equipment
A working knowledge of typical office technology, such as telephone systems, voicemail, copiers, scanners and facsimile machines. Computer skills should include Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency and familiarity with Mac OS. Experience using cloud based productivity tools such as Google Docs or Central Desktop and database management tools such as Salesforce or Sugar CRM preferred. Graphic design and website building experienced is ideal, but not required.
