The Pinkston Group works with a select group of clients to create and execute media strategies designed to meet their specific objectives, such as promoting or launching products and books, influencing legislation, avoiding or managing a crisis, or simply establishing a brand. We generate positive press coverage by establishing representatives as thought leaders, strengthening client relationships with important media outlets, and maximizing the news impact of announcements or events. The vast majority of our practice areas are centered on the cultivation of media opportunities.

Skills

The ideal candidates will have a solid grasp on the fundamentals of grammar and AP style. An understanding of politics, particularly center-right politics is highly valued, but not essential. Our office culture is fast paced and collaborative and those who participate in the program must be energetic, willing to think and learn. Those who wish to learn media relations are encouraged to apply.Desired skills include: proven ability to prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Exemplary writing, communication and organizational skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are required. An ideal candidate will have a degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications.

Duties

• Write effective media pitches
• Draft interview talking points
• Provide research support for clients
• Monitor the media for important story angles
• Develop media coverage reports
• Create and edit media lists
• Assist in brainstorming campaign messaging
• Deliver an effective “elevator pitch” to media
