Red Fan Communications is an integrated public relations and marketing consultancy helping early stage and established businesses build and sustain their brand reputation.  Working closely with clients' senior management teams, Red Fan maps PR and marketing efforts to strategic business goals to deliver insights, counsel, project work, strategy and tactics; always with deliverable results.

Duties

We hold two unpaid internship slots per semester for undergraduate PR students who have had successful previous internships, are committed to working in the PR world and are excited to learn about and execute on media relations strategies. In this role, he or she will have the opportunity to work on press releases, Q&A documents, research, and press relations strategies.  Interns also participate in new business development and brand positioning audits for new clients. All of this will be done with supervision and a great opportunity to learn the ropes from a seasoned marketing communications executive with corporate and agency experience both in the U.S. and internationally. We are looking for a team player, someone who is comfortable on the phone, is incredibly organized, is passionate about great communication, and is a great writer and proofreader. He or she will be a diligent researcher who loves to find creative ways to contribute to client success. Our clients range from tech startups, to lifestyle brands, to non-profits and everything in between.  A successful Red Fan intern shifts easily between tasks and is comfortable in a variety of professional environments. As an ambassador for Red Fan and every client we represent, our interns must be intelligent, polished and creative. We recognize that every member of our team adds value and are looking for an intern who craves hands-on experience and brings a great attitude to the office everyday.

Skills

•Completion of previous PR coursework
•A working knowledge of strategic PR campaigns, how to pitch a reporter, and how to draft a press release
•Solid writing background and superior communication skills
•Organization, creativity, and drive
•Interest in fashion, lifestyle, education, technology, and online applications
•Comfort using—or the ability to quickly learn—a media database to build out target media lists
•Expert in using various social media platforms, and eager to manage Red Fan’s social media channels and those of our clients
•Excellent research skills
•A knowledge of current events and the ability to follow the day’s top stories both locally and nationally as they relate to Red Fan clients
•Ability to commit 16 to 18 hours per week. Shifts are 4 to 5 hours per day and can be scheduled in the morning or afternoon a few days a week
