With more than 400 fresh, hand-ground spices, blends and herbs, shopping here is a multi-sensory experience that begins with a wave of aromas. The experience continues as you taste what you want and buy just what you need. Our market is broad - from the experienced gourmand to the novice cook - and we offer a variety of recipes, cooking classes and tastings to entice customers. As a small business with limited dollars for traditional paid advertising, we rely on a variety of public relations events and social media methods to get out the word about this great store.

Duties
First, there are two main PR/communications activities that I would like to have a intern assist in the planning, as well as implementation of activities. The first project is to help build the West End First Thursday. Currently it is primarily a weakly supported monthly event that a few galleries and some retail stores in the neighborhood participate. The intern's challenge is to help me build this event by getting more stores participating, improved signage and visibility in each store, improved media outreach for event calendars and online methods as well as ongoing communication efforts.Secondly, I'd like the intern to help build a communications and outreach program to all the residents in the immediate area. This will not only include households but apartments and condos in the central Austin area. It is through heightened awareness and exposure that the intern will help grow the business to those who live in nearby. This outreach will be a combination of several types of activities, from newsletters to welcome kits to special events in the store. Also, help develop a media list for both traditional as well as social media outlets, so I can have an easy method to distribute future communications. And if they have any further insight and knowledge to help us continue to build our social media outlets, that will be appreciated.
