FOR ADV 395 - Graduate Internship:

ADV 385 Media Management
ADV 387 Creative Strategies

Course Requirements

Students are responsible for meeting requirements.  The graduate internship course (ADV 395) can only be taken as a CR/NC course.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations maintains an online list of companies with possible available internship positions.  For graduate students, a selection of current postings can be found at the Internship Postings webpage, the HireStandards webpage and on the AdGrad site (EID sign-in required). Because this list is not comprehensive and does not reflect the number of internship opportunities that may be available, students are encouranged to seek out and apply for other available internships in addition to those posted on the Department website.  Each internship must be approved by the Department.

Internship Process

Please consult the Summer 2013 Application Procedures documents for more details. Your internship experience should follow these basic steps:

  2. Register for the course (making sure that you meet course prerequsites and minimum GPA requirements).
  3. Complete the Online Application Form for Summer 2013 by the application deadline.
  4. Provide your supervisor's email address in the online application
  5. Patiently await internship approval from Dr. Cunningham (this process is initiated after your application is submitted but can take up to several weeks)
  6. Once your internship is approved, you have registered for the course and the semester has begun, you must participate in an orientation for the course (online) via Blackboard.
  7. Obtain and read required text for the course and complete three associated assignments (ADV & PR 350 only).
  8. Both you and your supervisor will complete midterm and final evaluations.
  9. Write and submit a Final Report (guidlines found in Blackboard)
Please note:If your company does not pay interns, they are allowed a maximum of two unpaid interns from our department per semester.
