"WeAreTeachers, the knowledge marketplace, is founded on a simple, but
powerful belief:
Teachers are uniquely important today, and historically, as keepers of the culture. Whether they teach mathematics, science, literature, art, dance, fitness or health, teachers are responsible for advancing and transferring the culture of society from one generation to the next.
WeAreTeachers founders have a long history of working in and around teaching, training and learning in general. We all agree that teachers, whether they teach third-grade reading, high-school math, yoga or piano lessons, are essential to our culture and our world. But our society fails to reward them fairly and fully recognize their contributions.
WeAreTeachers wants to level the playing field and avail teachers of the wonderful new tools of the digital age. In the Web 2.0 world, technology empowers individuals and groups to come together for the purpose of aggregating resources and knowledge. From social networks and e-commerce, to on-line video and other forms of digital content, the time is right for leveraging these trends and apply them to teaching and learning."
