Founded in 2006 by a group of runners in Austin, Texas, the main mission is to fund and build clean water projects in Burundi, Africa.  One of the poorest countries on earth, most people in rural Burundi walk over two miles for untreated water from streams and puddles, often shared with livestock.  Illness from waterborne infections is high, and a major factor in limiting access to education and economic stability.  Through clean water projects, the Gazelle Foundation is offering a first step in breaking the cycle of poverty in Burundi.

Duties

There are two main areas that the intern will be working on.  The first is our largest fundraiser -Run for the Water - a 10-Mile, 5k and Kids K running event held in downtown Austin that is expected to draw over 2,500 participants. Preparation for the October 30th event begins six months in advance to execute all the necessary details.  Currently, our biggest need is assistance with carrying out much of the race marketing campaign as well as minor website updates and maintenance.  This will involve collaborating with a large, local advertising agency as well as a mid-size PR firm - both of whom work with us pro bono.  Not only will you be helping the Gazelle Foundation grow our event, but you'll also be gaining a wealth of experience and contacts within the field of Advertising/PR.Secondly, you will be working closely with the advertising agency (Sanders/Wingo) to continue developmental work on an overall brand strategy for the Gazelle Foundation.  More than likely, your office will be at their location near the UT campus.
