Description
April 2009, Galaxy Dance Studio opened its Austin, TX doors. As a 501(c)4 charitable organization we bring about civic and social improvements through dance, movement, fitness instruction, dance and fitness youth camps, and unique community events. Thousands of visitors have experienced the talented instruction of dance and fitness leaders in our state-of-the-art studios. Galaxy Dance Studio internships are organized into fall, spring and summer sessions.
Galaxy Dance Studio internships are ideal for expanding one’s understanding of the social media marketing of a non-profit dance studio with a wide variety of dance classes, studio rentals.
Our instructional and studio rental programs are low-cost and we provide scholarships for youth dance classes and camps. The social media marketing internship is a great way to become an active part of the dance, movement, fitness, and performance arts community in Austin.
Internship Duties
The marketing and public relations internship at Galaxy Dance Studio provides needed assistance with the implementation of key media strategies. This position offers unique insight into the overall operations of nonprofit marketing and public relations operations. Responsibilities include maintaining current press lists and library of press coverage, writing press releases and content for various outlets, as well as researching opportunities for distributing information to new audiences.
Skills Required
Prospective interns should meet the following qualifications:
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience blogging, creating online communities, Facebook and email campaign
• Fluency in OpenOffice Suite or Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic understanding of the web, use of online SEO services, social media technologies
• Interest in and knowledge of dance and fitness a plus
• Graphics Experience a plus
Initial hours: 6-10 hours/week
Ideally afternoon for 2-3 hours
