Nancy Jeng, a Texas Advertising student, has been selected by American Advertising Federation as one of 50 Most Promising Minority Students of 2007.
The AAF flew Nancy Jeng and the other finalists to NYC for a 2-day event at the New York Athletic Club on February 6-7. Her faculty sponsor Dr. John H. Murphy also attended the event.
Nancy was notified by email in December that the AAF had chosen her as a finalist. "At first the importance of the email did not hit me. Then I realized that I was selected as a finalist and the first thing I did was call Dr. Murphy to thank him for nominating me, and to let him know," said Jeng. "I feel very honored that a prestigious national organization like the AAF would recognize my hard work and achievements. I am very lucky to have had this opportunity and I am excited about the possibilities that lay before me."
Nancy Jeng grew up in California and has always dreamt of studying advertising. "I came to UT simply because of its stellar reputation in the ad industry." While a student she attended networking trips to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas. She was a 2006 AAF Stickell intern at GSD&M and the former president of Texas Advertising Group. She will graduate in May from both our creative and media sequences. "Upon graduation, I will be working as an assistant media buyer at GSD&M. Eventually, I want to travel to other cities and end up back in San Francisco where I started."
