Congratulations to Ph.D. student Galit Marmor-Lavie!

Texas Advertising is pleased to recognize Ms. Galit Marmor-Lavie, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Advertising for receiving a "top four" paper award in the Political Communication Division of the National Communication Association. "I was very excited and grateful to receive the top paper award in the political communication division. It was an amazing and wonderful exposure", said Ms. Marmor-Lavie. She presented the paper entitled "Intimacy Appeals in Israeli Televised Political Advertising" recently at the 92nd annual convention in San Antonio, Texas. The study was conducted by Dr. Gabriel Weimann and Ms. Marmor-Lavie.
Ms. Marmor-Lavie noted that: "Participating at the NCA was a great opportunity to experience academic life in action. I enjoyed attending other researchers' presentations, getting to know various people in the field and witnessing academic collaboration among scholars. NCA is the largest communication conference in the country and offers a large number of presentations. I believe that approximately 1400 scholars presented this year."
Ms. Marmor-Lavie will also contribute a forthcoming manuscript entitled, "Para-social Relationships in Politics" to the SAGE Encyclopedia of Political Communication, edited by Lynda Lee Kaid and Christina Holtz-Bacha. Ms. Marmor-Lavie is in her second year of doctoral studies at UT Austin.
