Crispin Porter + Bogusky visits Texas Advertising
Kristi Kirkeide, Management Supervisor from Crispin Porter + Bogusky spoke to eager Texas Advertising Graduate students in the evening of Monday, April 16th. Her presentation was one of only six that CPB is giving at schools across the U.S.
"We chose this program because UT Austin is great. Gary seemed like a really nice guy, and UT has a great reputation."
CP+B, named the 2005 Clio Agency of the Year as well as "The Craziest Ad Guys in America" by Business Week is one of the hottest advertising agencies in the United States.
Kirkeide spoke about the cultural life at CP+B and one of their huge success stories-Burger King-and ten things you would hear in the halls, which help create those successes. Some of those things you may hear include "getting crystal clear on exactly who your target audience is, and why", as well as "empower consumers to make the brand their own."
Kirkeide then showed a showcase of some of the successful ads CP+B had created, including a couple of Miller's "Man Law" ads, an ad for Sprite, Volkswagen, and a couple more Burger King ads. This was followed by suggestions on how students might impress employers when looking for a job. At the conclusion of her presentation, Kristi took time to talk with many of the students in attendance.
This was CP+B's first visit to Texas Advertising and Kristi left impressed. "I hope we are able to return and actively recruit. We would love to attend the Texas Creative critique as well as provide lecturers to speak to classes." Following the presentation, several students commented on how much they enjoyed the presentation and were excited about future collaboration.
Two ex-Texas Advertising students -- Jason Ambrose and Dustin Ballard, currently working with CP+B have been recognized for their outstanding creative work. They won two TV Gold Awards at the 2006 One Show, a Bronze at the 2006 One Show and a 2006 Silver Cannes Lion for the "Fair Enough" campaign for the American Legacy Foundation. Ambrose (copywriter) and Ballard (art director) were also ranked as the number five art director and copywriter in the industry by Boards magazine in 2006. The team was also awarded a silver ANDY award from the Advertising Club of New York.
