Dr. Jerome Williams Receives Teaching Excellence Award

Jerome D. Williams, the F. J. Heyne Centennial Professor in Communication, will receive the 2007-2008 University of Texas at Austin College of Communication Teaching Excellence Award at the college's convocation ceremony Dec. 8.

Williams is a professor in the Department of Advertising. His research interests cover a number of areas in the consumer marketing and advertising domains, with particular emphasis on issues related to multicultural advertising and marketing. He was nominated by his students.

Williams grew up in Levittown, Penn., and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his master's degree from Union College (in New York) and his doctoral degree from the University of Colorado. He resides in Pflugerville, Texas.

Each fall the College of Communication Teaching Excellence Award is given to a full-time faculty member with two years or more of service and who has not already won the award. Nominations for the award come from students, faculty and administration.
