Lisa Dobias Named as 2010 Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award Winner
The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System has recognized 72 faculty members from institutions within the system for outstanding teaching, including 34 faculty members from The University of Texas at Austin.
The educators from the 15 institutions were honored as the 2010 Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award winners during a ceremony on The University of Texas at Austin campus on Aug. 11. They will share $2 million in awards.
One of the faculty recognized for outstanding teaching is the department's Lisa Dobias. Lisa, who is founder and Director of the Texas Media program is a senior lecturer in department. She has been teaching at UT Austin since 1996. Lisa has been awarded the Texas Excellence Teaching Award for the College of Communication in both 2002 and 2009. In addition, she was named the 2009 Outstanding Educator of the Year in Central Texas by the Austin Advertising Federation.
Prior to teaching, Lisa graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989. Lisa's industry experience is agency-side in client service and media. Gary Wilcox, who remembered Lisa from her student days in the department commented: "Lisa is truly deserving of this recognition and honor. I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa as a student and as a colleague. She is a world-class teacher and individual!"
