Luke Sullivan first speaker in creative lecture series

Texas Advertising is proud to hold the Times-Mirror Creative Lecture Series this semester entitled EDGE Keeping Creative Sharp. The series brings various creative directors, writers, designers, and authors from around the country to discuss the objective of keeping advertising creative alive.

The first speaker in the series, Luke Sullivan, is scheduled to speak on Friday, February 11, beginning at 6:00pm in the CMA Auditorium. His lecture topics include discussion of the second edition of his book, Hey Whipple Sqeeze This, and ideas for putting your career in perspective. Sullivan will also be available for book signing during the lecture.

Sullivan currently works as group creative director at GSD&M. He started his career as a copywriter at Bozell & Jacobs in Minneapolis in1978 and has since worked in various agencies across the country including The Martin Agency and WestWayne. Sullivan's account experience includes Miller Brewing, TIME magazine, United Airlines, Lee Jeans, BellSouth, and Porshe. Additionally, Adweek has twice named Sullivan one of the top 10 copywriters in America.

Other upcoming speakers this semester include Neil Powell and Josh Rogers from Powell New York; Kathy Hepinstall, writer and University of Texas alum; Waren Berger, author of Advertising Today and No Advertising Wasted; Scott Z. Burns, screenplay writer, director, and producer; and Andrew Keller, creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami.
