A Meeting of Media Minds

For two days this summer, TexasMedia faculty Lisa Dobias, Terry Daugherty, Gene Kincaid and Laura Bright visited with top ad agencies in Dallas to talk media. Included on the visit list for these meetings were The Richards Group, Tracy Locke, Dieste Harmel Partners and Tribal DDB. The purpose of the conversations was first to update the market leaders about TexasMedia program developments and second to engage in shared conversations over media industry expectations for a strong media education. "The Dallas market has hired so many of our great TexasMedia graduates and they are doing so well that industry leaders reached out and wanted to hear first hand just what we were up to down here", said TexasMedia Director, Lisa Dobias regarding the trip.

Feedback from industry was overwhelmingly positive. In short, executives applauded the many creative teaching approaches the TexasMedia program is taking to integrate the radical changes and opportunities in the marketplace, in addition to continuing to provide students with the strong foundation that is required for any career in media. In short, this visit reinforced the TexasMedia Program's leadership reputation of mentoring highly respected young media professionals. As the most widely developed and broad program of its type, TexasMedia continues to lead in the exciting new age of media.

The TexasMedia ambassador's trip wrapped up with a happy hour for industry leaders, alumni and faculty. With over fifty in attendance, the happy hour event was a perfect ending to a great media visit in Dallas.
