Operation Jumpstart

Sandoval & Rincon

Texas Advertising graduate students, Angelica Sandoval and Jorge Rincon are the 2008-09 recipients of Operation Jumpstart's prestigious fellowship. The American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) awarded $10,000 each through the AAAA Foundation's Operation Jumpstart III program. The fellowships are for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic years.

Affiliated with the American Association of Advertising Agencies, Operation Jumpstart provides financial assistance to multicultural students who aspire to be art directors and copywriters. Five other portfolio schools in the United States (The Miami Ad School, The Portfolio Center, The Pratt Institute, The Ad Center at Virginia Commonwealth University, and The Creative Circus) submit eligible student candidates to compete for the tuition funding opportunity. Both Angelica and Jorge were originally alerted to the fellowship by Graduate Adviser Dr. Gary Wilcox and are thankful for his presence in their graduate careers.

Angelica is a select admission graduate student, who graduated from The University of Texas in May 2008, majoring in Public Relations. Originally from Ft. Worth, Texas, she is pursuing copywriting and exploring options of moving to a large metropolitan advertising city upon graduation in the fall of 2009.

Jorge is a first year graduate student coming from The University of Texas-Pan American, where he studied Advertising/Public Relations and graduated in May 2008. After completing the MA program, Jorge hopes to work at a recognized advertising agency in New York, Chicago or San Francisco, in art and design.
