Professor John Fortunato discusses Sports Sponsorship

John Fortunato has recently been upping his presence around campus and the sports television circuit. In late November, a workshop dedicated to "Sports Sponsorship" took place at the Campus Club, where Professor Fortunato led an interactive workshop. The discussion session dealt with topics such as the increase of ad spending by several corporations on sponsorships with sports entities, as well as focusing on the current nature of sports sponsorships and what advertisers will need to be thinking about in the future to make these tactics more effective.

Fortunato further displayed his love of sports by contributing to the recent NFL film entitled "Pete Rozelle: Building America's Game." The program debuted on CBS, November 26, telling the epic story of the growth of pro football through the eyes of the man who blazed the way. Personal reflections from more than 30 family members, friends and associates, filled this touching, one-hour special.

John Fortunato is an ambitious teacher whose research interests run the gamut from advertising and public relations, to marketing and the perceptible, sports media. Before making his journey to the University of Texas at Austin, Fortunato received his Ph. D. from Rutgers University and went on to teach for three years at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey, teaching advertising, public relations, marketing, mass communication theory, sports media, and research courses.
