Professor Terry Daugherty to Serve as Guest Editor

Texas Advertising faculty member Dr. Terry Daugherty is currently serving as the Guest Editor for an upcoming special issue of the Journal of Interactive Advertising addressing gaming and its relationship with advertising, marketing and communication.

Advances in interactive technology have helped facilitate a gaming explosion in recent years with personal computers, console systems and handheld devices attracting millions of players worldwide. Daugherty states, "This tremendous growth has lead to a more representative population among gamers and unquestionably caught the attention of advertisers. As a result, the goal of this special issue to expand our understanding of this viable medium as advertising and gaming converge."

JIAD is a refereed journal designed to promote our understanding of interactive advertising, marketing, and communication in a changing world, with an editorial board comprised of leading academic and industry professionals. "I am thrilled for the opportunity to contribute toward this influential journal and strongly believe in the importance of this issue," states Daugherty. The target publication date for the special issue is fall 2004.

Terry Daugherty, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Advertising at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on understanding consumer behavior and strategic media management, with work appearing in the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Interactive Advertising, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and the Journal of Interactive Marketing, among others.
