Skeeballers - The Account Planner's Blog
In addition to the Creative, Interactive, and Media programs, Texas Advertising offers graduate students an Account Planning focus. Recently four motivated graduate students took it upon themselves to spread the reputation of UT's Account Planning program through an interactive blog titled "Skeeballers."
Skeeballers is a brand planning blog that features news about branding and gives insight and opinion about various branding efforts. Created by Katherine Franklin, Jayna Olsen, Chris Seaberg, and Jessica Lin under the supervision of Dr. Neal Burns, the blog also provides links to brand related articles, interesting events, and all things fun and cool.
Although one of the main purposes of Skeeballers is to increase recognition of the UT account planning program, the goal is to position the planning department as a thought leader and innovator, and to open up a two-way dialogue with the industry and potential employers. When asked about the muse of Skeeballers, Jayna Olsen stated that it all happened last year, in the Advanced Account Planning class. "Last semester all four of us (Chris, Katherine, Jessica and I) were in Advanced Account Planning and were talking about Russell Davies' blog. We thought that UT Advertising students could use something similar. We wanted to create a forum, a community for students. Instead of an outside voice, we wanted to create an inside voice."
Indeed, the blog is highly interactive. Every entry has a link to send comments and encourage feedback. Comment sections are intended to be in the form of a forum. The blog is updated frequently, and external links randomly rotate in and out each week.
This is a hip and cool blog with contributions from independent thinkers.
