Talk Addresses Branding for Nonprofits

Bryan Harding, Director of Advertising and Marketing Communications at the American Heart Association National Center in Dallas, gave a talk on the UT campus on "Branding for Non-Profits."

The talk, which took place on Friday March 24th, covered topics such as the social and environmental impact of nonprofit organizations, the funding challenges they face, and the important role of branding in overcoming these challenges.

In the last five years, branding for nonprofit organizations has been getting increased attention from branding experts. Interest in this particular branding area continues to grow, fueled by the potentially dramatic impact on society that may be generated by increased awareness of nonprofits.

Mr. Harding, who is a UT graduate, highlighted the potential of nonprofits to make a difference in the world in the areas of health, quality of life, and environment. He stated that a nonprofit organization has to differentiate itself, highlight its relevance to people's lives, gain public esteem, and raise awareness about its function. These are prerequisites for strong brand recognition.

For those interested, the UT Advertising department is offering a course on Branding and Communications for Nonprofit Organizations.
