Texas Advertising Graduate Council Visits San Francisco

Over the weekend of March 30th to April 2nd, members of the Advertising Graduate Council traveled to San Francisco, California. In total, 40 students visited with a total of nine advertising agencies, including: BBDO, DDB, Grey Global, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Pentagram, Young & Rubicam, Real Branding, Venebales Bell & Partners, and Visual Resources. Each semester, members of Advertising Graduate Council travel to one of various cities around the country, visiting and making contacts with industry players. Contacts are most commonly established through Texas Advertising graduate alumni.

In addition to meeting with advertising agencies, the students also took part in some tourist activities around town. The group attended the opening game at SBC park where the San Francisco Giants beat the Oakland A's, visited the Golden Gate Bridge and the Golden Gate Park, walked through a farmer's market, went shopping on Haight/Ashbury, participated in a wine tasting, and went for a walk down Castro Street. In all, the trip provided those students who attended with an opportunity to make valuable contacts with major industry players, as well as a much appreciated mid-semester vacation.

The Advertising Graduate Council members make similar trips to various cities around the country each semester. The destination for Fall 2005 is still yet to be determined. The Advertising Graduate Council is a student-run organization that serves the needs of graduate advertising students by providing opportunities for professional enrichment and social interaction.
