Texas Advertising Graduate Students Attend Resume Workshop
Advertising graduate students were treated the evening of February 21st to a workshop on how to impress employers with their resumes.
Lindsey LeBlanc, intern coordinator at GSD&M, along with Natalie Huffman, recruiting coordinator also from GSD&M, spoke for an hour on how grads could maximize their resumes. Both Lindsey and Natalie graduated from the department, so their presentation was especially relevant. They spoke about keeping resumes succinct, and to the point, but still having a creative flair. Other tips included how to bolster your resume even if you do not have a lot of work experience, as well as a list of action verbs which help improve the overall sound of a resume.
The catered event, which took place in the Campus Club of the Walter Webb Hall, was attended by close to 50 grads, along with Graduate Coordinator Virginia Hueske, Dr. Gary Wilcox, and Dr. Neal Burns, all who had a hand in coordinating the event. The event was sponsored by the Texas Advertising Graduate Program.
Graduate Peer Adviser Amber Roberson introduced the speakers after Dr. Burns spoke for a few minutes on the new mentoring program he is spearheading for account planning graduate students. After the presentation, students were able to ask both speakers questions and get advice one-on-one with resumes they brought.
