Texas Advertising welcomes Dr. LeeAnn Kahlor to the PR faculty

LeeAnn Kahlor

Dr. LeeAnn Kahlor joins the public relations faculty as an assistant professor. As an instructor of Mass Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Kahlor is no stranger to the rigors of teaching on a University level. She begins her career here at UT teaching both PR 333 and PR 367/ADV 370.

Professor Kahlor's primary research interest is health and environmental risk communication, with an emphasis on information processing. She notes that, "My professional and research experiences will make for good, relevant discussions about the role of PR in health and environmental communication." Dr. Kahlor has won awards from the International Communication Association and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication for her research on science communication and television viewing. Her work has also appeared in Science Communication, Communication Research, Media Psychology, and the Journal of Broadcast and Electronic Media among others.

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Kahlor was a reporter for the Milwaukee Sentinel, specializing in crime and urban violence in addition to working in corporate communications at Ameritech (now SBC). She continues to enjoy her love of writing, "whether it's poetry, reporting, PR, or academic articles that have been the one constant in my life."
