Texas Advertising Welcomes Matt McCutchin
Portfolio 1 & 2 are being taught by a fresh face this semester. Dallas born, Matt McCutchin (M.A. Harvard University, B.S. University of Texas at Austin) has recently joined the faculty in the capacity of Lecturer, thus adding his wealth of industry and teaching experience to the Texas Creative program.
Matt passed most of his time away from Austin working as a copywriter for several well known advertising agencies, including DDB Chicago, New York's Deutsch, Ammirati & Puris, and Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners, and Boston's Arnold. His clients included Volkswagen, IKEA, AT&T, State Farm, Midas, Compaq, IBM, Subaru, Bank of America, and The Home Depot. Matt also found the time to share his knowledge, by teaching at the Miami Ad School, West Virginia University (online), and the Chicago Portfolio School. His areas of academic interest include advertising and literature, the history of advertising, and integrated marketing creativity.
On a more personal note, Matt, a seventh-generation Texan and second-generation Longhorn, moonlights as a part-time creative director, music producer, and last but definitely not least, a musician. His musical genre of choice is New Wave dance rock. He is also credited with naming Snapple's line of prepackaged smoothies ("Whipper Snapples" for the uninitiated), has directed Oscar winner James Coburn in radio ads for NationsBank, and has had one of his ads make Jay Leno's monologue (the monologue, NOT the funny headlines!).
