Texas Advertising Welcomes New Faculty - Michael Mackert

This year sees the addition of Dr. Michael Mackert to our faculty as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Mackert is a product of Michigan State University, holding a Ph. D. in Mass Media and Information Studies, an M.A. in Information and Telecommunication Management, and a B.S. in Chemistry, all from MSU.

Dr. Mackert's primary research focus is telemedicine, the provision of healthcare from a distance via telecommunication technology. His interests extend from health communication and literacy to online communities. His recent research has appeared in the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, the International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, and the Journal of Palliative Care. We all look forward to seeing more of his research appearing in trade journals, as Dr. Mackert puts his newly awarded research grant to good use. The grant will support his ongoing study of communication with low health literate populations.
