Texas Advertising Welcomes New Graduate Students 2006

Texas Advertising held its annual new graduate student welcoming party on Monday, August 21st at Westlake Beach on Lake Austin. At the orientation held earlier in the day, new students were able to meet some of the advertising faculty members as well as their fellow new graduate students. At the welcoming party, students met some of the current advertising graduate students as well as enjoy the food and refreshments provided by the department. Virginia Heuske, the graduate coordinator for the department stated that a "party on the lake is a typical Austin experience," and a great way to welcome the new graduate students to Austin.

This year's advertising graduate students come from Texas and all over the world. In all, there are 23 International students coming from Argentina, Canada, China, Greece, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey. Twenty-five members of the class are from Texas, and the remaining are from other states such as New York, Illinois, Louisiana, Iowa, California, Minnesota, New Jersey, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Hampshire. Of the total 120 new students, 9 are entering as Ph.D. students and the rest are seeking their Master's Degree.
