Texas Advertising Welcomes New Graduate Students for Fall 2005

The Department of Advertising held its annual new graduate student welcoming party on Monday, August 22 at Westlake Beach on Lake Austin. At the orientation held earlier in the day, new students were able to meet some of the advertising faculty members as well as their fellow new graduate students. At the welcoming party, students met some of the current advertising graduate students as well as enjoy the food and refreshments provided by the department. Virginia Heuske, the graduate coordinator for the department stated that a "party on the lake is a typical Austin experience," and a great way to welcome the new graduate students to Austin.

This year's advertising graduate students come from Texas and all over the world. In all, there are 30 International students coming from Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Thailand, and Turkey. Thirty-six members of the class are from Texas, and the remaining 44 are from other states across the country. Of the total 110 new students, 12 are entering as Ph.D. students and the rest are seeking their Master's Degree.
