Texas Creative Ex Grad Student Finds Success at StrawberryFrog

Matthew Barber started out thinking that advertising was cutthroat and sordid, but realized that is not the case at StrawberryFrog. He was surprised by how informal the company culture is and says it is not uncommon for juniors to work with executives.

Barber attended UT as a graduate student in the advertising program and now works as a copywriter. He describes the grounding in conceptual thinking received in the creative track at UT as amazing. These skills will get you a job, but you may soon find yourself working in a medium you did not receive much training in, he says.

Because of the ability to work with the Executive Creative Director and Chief Creative Officer and never being far removed from any stage of his projects, Barber likes working in a smaller agency.

Barber explains that advertising is a hard business to get into and advises to not bother trying unless you are willing to make it your number one priority for a while. There is a lot of work to be done in advertising, but at StawberryFrog, "we have fun doing it."
