Texas Creative Students Named One Show Finalists
The hard work and creativity of five students in the Texas Creative program was rewarded by being awarded finalist status in the 2009 One Show College Competition. Thousands of entries were submitted in hopes of winning a merit or pencil in one of the competition's seven categories.
Jessica Engle and Anna Mejia were named finalists for the Integrated Branding (3 or more media) Campaign category. Matt Nall and Jason Sweeten are finalists in the Print Campaign category. Also, Laura Cheek is a finalist in Logo Design. In addition, Jessica Engle and Anna Mejia were selected to present their campaign to a panel of judges at the One Show Client Pitch Competition, which is judged by the ability to create and articulate a focused strategy and the persuasiveness of the marketing pitch.
This year's competition challenge was to create an advertising campaign and/or design corporate branding for an unestablished brand, Long's Horseradish. Long's is a family owned company from Lancaster, Pennsylvania
For more than 25 years, the annual One Show College Competition has been providing students with the opportunity to prove their creative skills by working on an assignment provided by The One Club. Prizes will be awarded to the Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencil winning teams. The Pencil winners are awarded at the Student Awards Ceremony during the annual One Show Education Festival and finalists are published in the One Show Annual. Works produced by the finalists are also exhibited as part of the One Show Traveling Exhibition in many U.S. and international cities.
The student finalists do not know the award level they have won until the Student Awards Show that takes place in New York City on May 8th.
