Texas Ex Finds Success at The Richards Group

Working in the brand management department at The Richards Group in Dallas, Katey Porter says that advertising is everything she thought it would be and more - lots of fun and lots of work.

Porter graduated from the Advertising undergraduate program at UT only seven months ago. After various internships, Porter had a job lined up at The Richards Group in April before she graduated. She describes advertising as fast-paced with no typical workday, which is the "beauty of advertising."

At The Richards Group there is a very open door culture where everyone matters and has a fair say. No one has titles, so there is nothing that separates you from your boss. Porter juggles anywhere from three to ten projects, of all sizes, every day.

Two key things she learned about becoming successful advertising by attending UT were how to work in groups and solve problems. Porter advises current students to try to get as many internships as possible and to stick with it, because "advertising is the best rollercoaster ride ever."
