Texas PRSSA Wins Big at TPRA Conference

Students from The University of Texas at Austin travelled to Dallas on Nov. 11 to participate in the annual Texas Public Relations Association conference. Representatives from the Alan Scott chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at UT-Austin won for “Best Critical Thinking” in the Digital Media Student Competition.

The competition required students to create a digital media campaign in 90 minutes in response to a public relations scenario. Participants included UT Austin public relations majors Racheal Sperling, Alysse Fisher, Regina Flanigan, Daviz Pham, Channing Alexander and Leah Spector.

“I am so proud of our chapter,” said Rachael Sperling, president of the UT-Austin chapter of PRSSA. “It’s always great when you get to represent your school and degree program and come back with recognition.”

Teams from Texas State, Texas Tech, Baylor, University of North Texas, Texas Christian University and Abilene Christian University also participated in the competition.

“My favorite part about the competition was being able to apply under pressure what I’ve learned in the classroom and doing it as part of a team representing The University of Texas at Austin,” said team member Daviz Pham.
