TexasMedia Formally Welcomes Texas Interactive Under Its Curriculum Umbrella

As of Fall 2010, The University of Texas at Austin Department of Advertising officially announced the incorporation of Texas Interactive within the program path of TexasMedia, the department's established line up of courses providing students with an intense concentration in media studies since 1996.

With the communication landscape continually changing and becoming more digital, the decision to house Texas Interactive officially within the TexasMedia curriculum is a natural migration. Although interactive courses have always been highly recommended for TexasMedia students, rather than treating digital as a separate topic for students to study in addition to media, interactivity has now become one of three required areas in which it is mandatory for all TexasMedia students to complete coursework as of Fall 2010 -- Insights, Investments and Interactive. As a sub-path within the TexasMedia program, students can also claim an official Texas Interactive focus by completing one addition course, ADV377 Digital Metrics, and selecting to secure their for-credit internship, ADV350, in an interactive capacity.

The relocation of Texas Interactive to its new home within TexasMedia will allow the UT Department of Advertising to continue to lead in their course offerings within the increasingly important area of digital media.
