TexasMedia Update
Eight of the TexasMedia seniors are currently in Los Angeles on a network building trip. Lisa Dobias, lecturer in the TexasMedia program helped the students connect in the Los Angeles media world so when they graduate in May they will be prepared. Over the past few days, this group met with Directors of Human Resources and top media executives at many of the LA media agencies including OMD, CARAT, Mindshare, Media Edge and Initiative. They were also scheduled to visit with heads of NBC, followed by a trip to the studios to sit in on a live taping of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
According to Lisa, the December graduating class continued the record of being in very high demand. One of our brightest students that just graduated, Anna Sarabia, has just started a great media job at Crispin Porter Bogusky in Miami. Anna notes, "I've mingled with a few CPB employees, and they are all surprised with how strong my background is in media. Our background, graduating with an advertising degree and specifically in media will get you one of the best jobs out there in the advertising industry....not to mention, even higher pay."
Lisa Dobias describes Texas Media as "a comprehensive program designed to immerse students in both the art and science of delivering persuasive commercial messages to the right people, at the right time and place. We tackle this broad area of study across the four main topics of planning, buying, selling and new media development." To learn more about Texas Media, contact Lisa Dobias at dobias@mail.utexas.edu.
