UT's PRSSA Chapter Wins National Award Alan Scott

Chapter Recognized for Outstanding Web site

The University of Texas Alan Scott chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America was awarded the Dr. F. H. Teahan Chapter Excellence Award for Outstanding Chapter Web site at the PRSSA National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in November 2001.

The award is named after the former Public Relations Society of America Vice President of Education and a founding father of the Champions of PRSSA, an organization of professionals who seek to better the education of PRSSA members. "I am extremely proud of this award. This sums up the amount of effort our members exert for the chapter", said Joel Rushing, president and creator of the Web site. Rushing created the site in 2000, and it continues to be updated weekly by current Webmaster Curtis Bahr. The Web site contains announcements concerning job and internship opportunities, resumes of its members and updates on the latest chapter news. The site also has information on the National PRSSA organization and links to other universities' chapter Web sites. But Bahr suggests that the Web site is not only to benefit members. "It helps to expand our audience base to employers and other professionals who may benefit our members", Bahr said.

Public Relations Student Society of America is a professional organization that helps cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and public relations practitioners. PRSSA has over 6,500 members in 220 chapters across the country. For more information, go to .
