If you have any specific questions about the graduate program in the Advertising Department that are not answered here or in the Graduate Brochure(Acrobat PDF format), contact Gary Wilcox, the Graduate Adviser, at Burl@mail.utexas.edu.

Prerequisite Courses

Many of our applicants have never taken a course in advertising and enter with degrees from other fields. That is not a problem. You can apply to the program even if you have absolutely no background in advertising, however you must complete the following four prerequisites early in your program or prior to enrollment:

Strategic Advertising Management
Media Management
Foundations of Marketing
A statistics course

In some cases these courses may be waived if the student has taken a similar course with substantially identical content.
