PUSH Mission and Goals
Mission: Improve the public's understanding of science and health.
Primary Goal: Facilitate a symbiotic relationship among UT researchers interested in research and pedagogy intended to improve public understanding of science and health.
Secondary Goal: Seek internal and external funding that will:
Foster interdisciplinary research among scholars at UT and external to UT.
Facilitate research projects aimed at improving our theoretical understanding of public knowledge of - and attitudes towards - science and health topics.
Help create informed and effective communication interventions aimed at 1) improving science and health literacy, and 2) positively impacting attitudes and behaviors related to science and health issues.
Help make the most of technology that can facilitate public understanding of science and health.
Promote the ethical communication of science and health research and news.
Fund the upkeep and expansion of the PUSH Research and Teaching Initiative to progressively serve researchers within and beyond the UT community.
