THE DEGREE PROGRAM

The University of Texas at Austin offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising. To be awarded this degree, the candidate must complete 120 semester hours and fulfill all of the General Requirements, Special Requirements, Prescribed Work, and Major Requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Catalog.

It is important to note that students often fall under different catalogs depending upon the time of enrollment. Therefore, each student must check with the College of Communication Student Division (CMA 4.140) to determine which catalog is applicable. Students may purchase the Undergraduate Catalog and the General Information Bulletin in the Registrar's Office (MAI 1). The Course Schedule may be purchased at the University Co-op or any of the local bookstores which sell The University's textbooks.

THE ADVERTISING MAJOR

Prior to completing 60 semester hours of credit, the prospective advertising major is a student of the College of Communication and may be listed as an advertising major or as an undeclared major. Undeclared students must declare a major upon completion of 60 semester hours. (To declare a major in advertising, students should go to the College of Communication Student Division in CMA 4.140.) It is important to note that all students must declare a major and apply for an official degree check upon completion of sixty hours.
