Pro-Social Public Relations Maymester Abroad  Program

This course focuses on all the essential elements of a basic PR class — writing, campaign design, interview skills — but it does so in one of the world’s fastest changing environments. Ireland has witnessed dramatic changes in the last decade, as the social and cultural effects of the “Celtic Tiger” boom transformed the land from an agricultural to a technologically advanced industrial European power that is now facing issues related globalization, economic integration and national identity.   Students participating in this program will gather a better understanding of what it means to write effectively and how to work as a team to produce a public relations campaign. More significantly, students will also learn to use media as a tool for public improvements in an increasingly interconnected world. Students register for this spring semester course, participate in several classes on campus prior to departure, then travel to Ireland, where they will study for four weeks  starting in late May.

Department of Advertising and Public Relations professor Brad Love will teach PR348 and PR378 in Dublin. The deadline to apply for the 2010 program is November 1, 2009.
