Professional Interests
Professor Wilcox's most recent interests include advertising's long term effects on products and new techologies and advertising. His publications include one book, several book chapters, and over thirty articles that have appeared in the International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Advertising, Journalism Quarterly, Journal of Media Planning,and Communications and the Law among others.
Dr. Wilcox served as Chair of the Department of Advertising from 1990 until 1998 and has served as Director of Graduate Programs in Advertising since 1998. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Graduate Adviser Award from UT Austin. In the Spring of 2007, his work as Graduate Adviser at UT was featured in U.S. News and World Report. Professor Wilcox has a wide range of teaching experience including Principles of Advertising, Introduction to Advertising Creativity, Strategic Advertising Principles, Advertising Media Planning, Broadcast Advertising, Computer Imaging, Advertising Campaigns and most recently Introduction to Advertising and Integrated Brand Promotion for Ad and PR majors.
Personal Background
Professor Wilcox worked as a musician and photographer prior to entering the world of academia.
